Cultural Competence- A Key Skill to Work Successfully in International Teams

In such a fast developing globalized world, the majority of us are members of an international team. This means that one has to create relationships and get work done through communicating across cultural boundaries. Cultural competence is now considered one of the key skills to succeed with an international career and the lack of it is viewed as one of the biggest obstacles for achieving efficiency in diverse teams.

During the presentation, participants will:

  • Learn how our cultural background shapes our personalities & behaviors in the workplace
  • Explore cultural dimensions & GlobeSmart, the industry-leading cultural inventory
  • Gain tools & strategies for developing cultural agility

Keynote speaker
Ekaterina is Director of Consulting at Aperian Global, a major consulting firm within the sphere of global talent development. Ekaterina is responsible for designing & delivering solutions for Global 500 clients in areas such as Team Effectiveness, Global Leadership Development, Global Mindset, and Diversity & Inclusion. Ekaterina holds a Master’s Degree in Linguistics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Opera singing. She has lived and worked in Belarus, Austria, the U.S., the United Kingdom and Japan. She is currently a motivational speaker with the Athenas Speakers Bureau in Sweden.

Elena is currently chair of IEEE Women in Engineering, IEEE Sweden Section at KTH. She is also currently a PhD student in the Optics and Photonics group, Applied Physics Department, SCI school.
