Challenge:

A leading global hardware technology company launched an 18-month international rotational engineering program for twelve high-potential engineers to gain experience working outside their home countries for six-month periods. Aperian Global developed a holistic solution to prepare the hi-potentials for their assignments, as well as the receiving managers and sponsors.

Discovery:

Aperian Global designed a two-pronged, virtual solution to equip the engineers with an overview of their target countries and also develop the global mindset of receiving managers and sponsors. The solution included:

  • Virtual Country Briefing sessions for engineers focused on China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom, and the United States
  • Virtual Working Globally sessions customized for engineers and their managers and sponsors
Impact:

Participants in the rotational program indicated that the pre-departure country briefings enhanced their effectiveness on assignment by providing best practices for working and living in the destination country, while receiving managers and sponsors found that the Working Globally workshops better prepared them to leverage the diverse work styles of the engineers.
