The Managing Competing Priorities Learning Path places learners in a common workplace scenario, and puts them in charge of the outcomes.
The Introduction familiarizes learners with the matrixed organizational structure and introduces the scenario they will navigate. Customize with organizational context and initiatives.
The scenario begins! Learners are tasked with two projects for two different managers, both with tight deadlines.
Throughout the scenario, learners must decide how to handle challenges. The course of the scenario changes depending on the learner's decisions.
Learners receive a gold, silver, bronze, or no medal for their navigation of the matrix. The scenario can be played a number of times to achieve the best result. There are multiple paths and new challenges to explore!
On the Reflections step, learners consider how the scenario relates to their daily work environments. Entries are saved and sent to learners by email a few weeks after completion of the Learning Path, serving as a timely reminder of the lessons learned. Customize the reflection questions to relate to organizational priorities.
On the Activities step, learners are presented with activities for team members reporting to matrixed management as well as activities for managers leading matrixed teams. All activities are targeted at improving workplace communication and effectiveness. Learners' selections are saved and sent by email a few weeks after completion of the Learning Path. Customize the follow-up activities to the organizational context.
